East Carolina Avenue closure Feb. 25

Weather permitting, a section of East Carolina Avenue in front of the Mantissa Executive Suites and Spa may be closed for some construction the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 25. Traffic will still be able to access the street from either the Fourth Street or Fifth Street intersection, but will not be able to pass through on the street.

Recycler of the Month – February 2015

Diane DeLucia is the City of Hartsville’s Recycler of the Month for February 2015.

Her property came into Hartsville city limits in recent years, and she said she has been enthusiastic about recycling services since, often filling her recycling bin with plastic bottles and cans.

Hartsville Fire Department to host fundraiser for family of late firefighter John Auten

The Hartsville Fire Department will host a benefit fundraiser for the family of the late Lt. John Auten, a longtime veteran of the department, on Thursday, March 5, when firefighters will be cooking and serving butt bog from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the department’s station at 111 S. Seventh St. in Hartsville.

East Home Avenue tree removal postponed

The planned removal of a hazardous tree at the intersection of East Home Avenue, Fourth Street and Laurel Oak Street scheduled to take place Wednesday, Feb. 18 will be rescheduled at a later date in light of demands made on work crews by the inclement weather.

Fire hydrant testing taking place during February

Residents will see crews performing routine testing of fire hydrants in the City of Hartsville over the next several weeks. Residents may see some discoloration in their water temporarily during this time, although the water remains safe.
