Recyclers of the Month – August 2015

Shirley and Edward Ruffin are the City of Hartsville’s Recyclers of the Month for August 2015.

The family recycles everything, Shirley Ruffin said, including glass, paper and plastic, and keeps a bin inside the house dedicated to recyclables. She added that even her grandchildren have shown an interest in making sure recyclable items aren’t thrown in the trash.

City of Hartsville obtains $1.6 million of savings in water and sewer revenue bonds refinancing, receives A+ rating from Standard and Poor’s

The City of Hartsville announced that it has refinanced the balance of its waterworks and sewer system revenue bonds, which will save the City more than $1.6 million over the remaining years of the bond issue, and also achieved a rating of A+ from Standard and Poor’s Rating Services for these bonds.

“Planes: Fire and Rescue” caps off Screen on the Green season in Burry Park

The end of summer may be close at hand, but the City of Hartsville’s Screen on the Green series still has one last free movie to show. “Planes: Fire and Rescue,” will be flying into Burry Park on a new date, Saturday, Aug. 15 and beginning at dusk, 8:30 p.m. or later. The showing is sponsored by the Hartsville Police Department and Hartsville Fire Department, who will bring emergency vehicles onsite and have safety information to distribute for children.
