Construction to begin on Lawton Park playground June 1

Workers will begin installation of new playground equipment at Lawton Park, 716 Prestwood Drive in Hartsville, beginning the week of June 1. The construction will be completed by the weekend of July 4-5, weather permitting.

Except for the construction site, the park will remain open during this time.

A Moment with the Manager – Fiscal Year 2015-16 General Fund Budget

Springtime is budget-planning time for governmental organizations, and we in the City of Hartsville are pleased that the proposed Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget now under consideration by City Council is one that taxpaying residents and businesses will appreciate. The budget includes no tax increase and no rate increases for water, sewer or sanitation. Mantissa Row alleyway improvements begin May 18

Beginning Monday, May 18, upgrade work will begin for Mantissa Row from Fourth Street to the Mantissa Executive Suites boutique hotel construction site. This work will include repaving, improved storm drains and integrating roof drains. Afterwards, crews will move on to repaving and reconfiguring the East College Avenue lot closest to Mantissa, repaving East College Avenue and its sidewalks, and then the lot closest to Sophia’s Pizzeria and the Arcade Barber Shop.

2015 Screen on the Green season begins with “Searching for Bobby Fischer,” sponsored by Learn and Win
