Cemetery Committee Compiles List of Potential Burials in Historic Marion Avenue Cemetery

Many thanks to volunteer preservationist Renee Bryant and all those who have contributed to compiling a list of identified and suspected burials in the Historic Marion Avenue Cemetery which include veterans, family members of current residents, and community icons. For those interested in volunteer preservation efforts, a preservation workshop has been scheduled for September 23rd. Hartsville Fire Department receives Life Safety Achievement Award

The City of Hartsville’s Fire Department has received a Life Safety Achievement Award from the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) Fire Research and Education Foundation in partnership with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. The award recognized the department’s fire prevention efforts in 2015.

City of Hartsville Adds Exchange Zone for Online Purchases

The City of Hartsville has created an Internet Purchase Exchange Zone where the public can safely meet to exchange goods purchased on the internet. The area will be monitored from 7am – 9pm daily. This area will provide a safe space for the public to sell and purchase goods.

The exchange zone is located behind the Hartsville Police Department which is located at 135 W. Carolina Ave in Hartsville. A sign marks the area that is monitored for this purpose. […]

City of Hartsville Fire Department receives FM Global Grant for Smoke Detectors

The City of Hartsville Fire Department has received a grant from FM Global that will be used for the purchase of smoke detectors that will last residents up to 10 years. These smoke detectors will assist in effective and efficient fire prevention. FM Global Manager, Michael Spaziani, presented the grant award to Hartsville Fire Department Chief Jeff Burr and Fire Marshall Bryan Crowley on August 29th at the Hartsville Fire Department.

Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser sponsored by the Hartsville Parks and Recreation Department

Although Piratesville Splash Pad is typically closed after Labor Day, it will be open to special furry, four-legged visitors and their owners one last time for the season.
