City of Hartsville announces 2017 holiday schedule changes for trash collection routes

Trash collection routes for City of Hartsville utility customers will move from their regular schedules to new dates for several holidays for the beginning of 2017. The route change will affect collection only, not recycling. When a recycling collection route does not occur because of a holiday, the recycling route will resume on the regular day the following week.

Holiday schedule changes for 2017 are as follows:

City or Hartsville honors South Carolina’s Arbor Day with new tree planting at Byerly Park

Members of City Council and City staff observed the City of Hartsville’s Arbor Day on December 13, 2016 with the planting of a new Chinese Elm tree at Byerly Park’s TB Thomas Sports Center.

Mayor Pro Tem, Johnny Andrews joined by City of Hartsville staff and Council members thanked the Public Service Department in developing and maintaining Hartsville trees. Annual Hartsville Christmas Parade Tradition Continues

One of the most well-kept holiday traditions in the Hartsville community is the Hartsville Christmas Parade. The 2016 parade, sponsored by Darlington Raceway, North Industrial Machine, Sonoco, and SPC Credit Union, will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 10th.

Recycler of the Month – December 2016

Orlando Edwards is the City of Hartsville’s Recycler of the Month for December 2016.  Mr. Edwards makes a significant effort to recycle consistently.

As the Recycler of the Month, Edwards received a yard sign as well as a $25 Main Street Hartsville gift certificate.

City of Hartsville to Host Presentation on Redevelopment of the Historic Butler Distric

The City of Hartsville requests the attendance of the public for the presentation of the results of a South Hartsville Housing and Marketability Study recently completed on the South Hartsville Neighborhood. The results of the study will be presented on December 1st beginning at 6:00 pm at the Butler Heritage Foundation located at 1103 South Sixth Street. Light refreshments will be served.
