Duke Energy Hero Presentaion Hartsville, SC: As hurricane season begins, community leaders, emergency managers, and first responders are once again turning their attention to the tropics, preparing for the potential impacts of severe weather. Duke Energy is also stepping up to help strengthen local readiness.

Lauren Griggs, District Manager of Government and Community Relations for Duke Energy, recently presented the City of Hartsville with a $17,500 HERO grant to support emergency preparedness efforts. The funds will be used to purchase an emergency utility task vehicle (UTV), which will play a critical role in storm response operations, particularly for transporting supplies and individuals during widespread road closures.

“This year’s HERO grants are designed to help fill gaps identified during past storms, such as Hurricane Helene,” said Tim Pearson, Duke Energy’s South Carolina President. “These funds will equip our fellow first responders with the tools and training they need to meet future challenges head-on.”
