On behalf of the City of Hartsville, I extend our deepest condolences to the Darlington County Sheriff's Department on the tragic loss of Deputy Devin Mason, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our shared community. We stand with you in mourning a fiancée, father, friend, and dedicated officer who embodied the highest ideals of public service. 

Our hearts go out to Deputy Mason's family during this unimaginably difficult time. They have lost someone irreplaceable, and we share in your grief for this profound loss. 

Deputy Mason's legacy will endure in the lives he touched and the example he set for all who serve. Here in the Pee Dee, we truly are one big family, and this week we mourn together the loss of our friend and colleague. 

We are grateful for the collaboration between our agencies and want to thank the neighboring departments and emergency medical services who responded alongside you. The partnership between the Hartsville Police Department and the Darlington County Sheriff's Department exemplifies the spirit of service that Deputy Mason represented. 

On behalf of our city, I want to express our deep appreciation for all public safety officers who risk their lives to protect and serve our community. Your dedication and bravery do not go unnoticed. 

Deputy Mason will not be forgotten. His service and sacrifice will forever remain part of our shared story in the Pee Dee.
