Temporary Cooling Shelter 2025 (2)

UPDATE FROM MAYOR CASEY HANCOCK:

"Today, Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Blue’s Second Missionary Baptist Church opened its doors as a cooling shelter to welcome members of the Hartsville community seeking relief from the extreme heat. The cooling shelter will remain open while high temperatures continue, and resources are available.

📍 Second Missionary Baptist Church 212 W. Washington Street, Hartsville, SC 29550

We are always so grateful to have donors and volunteers willing to help our neighbors, and I want to extend a special thank you to Mr. Ringer from St. Luke Methodist Church for reaching out and helping coordinate much-needed donations.

Donations of box fans and other supplies can be dropped off at the following locations:

📍 Hartsville Police Department 135 W Carolina Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550

📍 Hartsville Fire Department 111 S Seventh St, Hartsville, SC 29550

These donations will not only support the cooling shelter but will also help expand HPD’s Fan the Heat Drive donation program, allowing even more Hartsvillians to stay safe and cool during this heatwave. Jon Weiss of the House of Hope of the Pee Dee also welcomes anyone from Hartsville that would like to go their facility in Florence for relief. Transportation is available. Please contact the House of Hope’s Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter at 843.731.9315 for more information. Anyone interested in donating or who has questions, please email me at mayor@hartsvillesc.gov. Thank you all for your kind hears. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and look out for one another."
