Federal Funding Secured for Hartsville Police Equipment and Vehicles

Post Date:01/27/2026 12:33 PM

The City of Hartsville Police Department will receive $360,106 in federal funding to support critical equipment and vehicle upgrades aimed at enhancing public safety and officer readiness.

The funding is included in the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026 and the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026, recently signed into law. Through this legislation, Congressman Russell Fry secured a total of $10.87 million for public safety and essential service projects across South Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District.

In Hartsville, the funds will be used by the Hartsville Police Department to:

  • Purchase new patrol vehicles to replace aging units,
  • Acquire updated radar systems to improve traffic enforcement and roadway safety, and
  • Invest in essential public safety tools and equipment that support daily operations and emergency response.

These upgrades will help modernize the department’s fleet and technology, ensuring officers have reliable, up-to-date resources to effectively serve and protect the Hartsville community.

“This funding represents a direct investment in local public safety,” said Congressman Fry. “By providing modern equipment and vehicles, we are helping ensure Hartsville’s officers are prepared, equipped, and ready to meet the needs of their community.”

While the legislation includes funding for public safety projects throughout the Seventh District, Hartsville’s allocation reflects a focused commitment to strengthening local law enforcement capabilities and enhancing quality of life for residents. City Manager, Daniel Moore stated, “The City of Hartsville thanks Congressman Russell Fry and his office for their support and advocacy on behalf of our community. This funding reflects the City’s continued commitment to public safety and was made possible through the hard work and collaboration of both City Council and staff. The City appreciates their dedication to securing resources that help ensure the Hartsville Police Department is well positioned to serve residents and visitors alike.”
