Hartsville Police Department Seizes Large Quantity of Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop

Hartsville, SC : On February 16, 2026, a Hartsville Police Officer with the Hartsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a commercial passenger bus for a traffic violation within the city limits.
During the stop, a trained narcotics detection K-9 was deployed. The K-9 alerted to luggage belonging to one of the passengers. Upon further investigation, officers discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine inside the bag.
Federal task force officers responded to the scene and are assisting with the ongoing trafficking investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available and as the investigation allows.
Chief Byron Snellgrove stated: “This is an example of proactive policing and the excellent training our officers are given. Drugs in our community negatively affect our quality of life and lead to violence and other crimes. Disrupting the transportation and distribution of illegal substances is a priority of this department.”
