The Hartsville Fire Department recently gathered for a special monthly meeting focused on recognizing the dedication, leadership, and service of its team members through a meaningful pinning ceremony.

During the ceremony, several individuals were honored for their continued commitment to protecting and serving the Hartsville community. Those recognized included Lieutenants Ben Bethea, JT Shoemaker, John Specht, and Timmy Wallace, along with Captain Mikie Burdick, Assistant Chief Les Baker, and Chief Ricky Flowers. Each pinning represents not only a professional milestone, but also a reflection of the trust and responsibility these leaders carry within the department and the community.

In addition to the pinning ceremony, several firefighters were recognized for their outstanding performance over the past year. Lieutenant John Specht was honored as a 2025 Top Responder and recognized for his 10 years of dedicated service to the department. Firefighter Tony Thomas and Firefighter Andrew Bartlett were also named 2025 Top Responders for their consistent commitment and readiness to serve.

A special recognition was given to Senior Firefighter Richy Moore, who was named the 2025 Firefighter of the Year, an honor that reflects exceptional service, leadership, and dedication both on and off duty.

Assistant Chief Les Baker was presented with a Meritorious Service Award for his extraordinary actions while responding to multiple structure fires occurring simultaneously in separate locations. His leadership and quick decision-making exemplify the highest standards of the fire service.

Moments like these highlight the strength, professionalism, and heart of the Hartsville Fire Department. The City of Hartsville is proud to recognize these individuals who go above and beyond each day to serve and protect our community.
