Building Trust. Creating Connections.

The Hartsville Police Department’s Community Outreach Division is dedicated to strengthening relationships between officers and the citizens we serve. Through a variety of community programs and events, we aim to promote public safety, foster mutual respect, and build a stronger, more united Hartsville.

Our officers actively engage with residents, schools, and local organizations to ensure a collaborative approach to crime prevention and quality of life initiatives.

Community Events & Programs

We host and participate in a wide range of events throughout the year to support and engage with the community:

• Coffee with a Cop
Casual opportunities to meet with officers, ask questions, and share concerns over coffee in a relaxed setting.

• Table Talks Mentoring Program
Officers visit local schools to have lunch with small groups of students, offering mentorship, positive interaction, and guidance.

• Fan the Heat
A summer outreach initiative that provides fans to senior citizens and families in need during periods of extreme heat.

• Read Across America
Our officers participate in school reading days to promote literacy and community presence in classrooms.

• National Night Out
An annual nationwide event that brings police and community members together for an evening of food, activities, and public safety awareness.

• Shop with a Cop
A holiday program where officers take children shopping for gifts, creating positive memories and building trust.

• Treats in the Streets
A family friendly Halloween event held downtown that provides a safe environment for trick-or-treating and interaction with officers.

• Downtown Open House & Tree Lighting
Officers participate in the city’s holiday kickoff with local businesses, families, and community groups.

• Christmas Parade
We proudly march in the annual city parade to celebrate the season alongside residents and partner organizations.

• 5K Run Events
The department joins and supports various 5K runs throughout the year to raise awareness for local causes and promote wellness.
