The City of Hartsville’s Tourism & Communications Department serves as both the public voice and promotional engine of our community. We are dedicated to sharing Hartsville’s story, supporting local businesses, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring clear communication between the city, residents, and visitors.
Our work centers on positioning Hartsville as a vibrant place to live, work, and visit, while actively contributing to economic development and community engagement.

- Main Street Hartsville initiatives

Operating from The Key, our official Welcome Center at 147 West Carolina Avenue, we connect residents and visitors with things to do in Hartsville SC, including downtown shopping, local restaurants, cultural attractions, parks, and community events.
Supporting Local Businesses & Driving Community Engagement
Through Visit Hartsville and Main Street Hartsville, our team works to strengthen the visibility and vitality of our local business community by:
- Promoting downtown retailers, restaurants, and service providers
- Creating signature events and festivals that increase foot traffic
- Partnering with nonprofits and cultural organizations
- Supporting downtown revitalization efforts
- Providing consistent marketing and storytelling across digital platforms

The department also coordinates special event permits and venue rentals for City owned spaces, including:
- The Edition – a modern and versatile indoor event venue
- Lawton Park – a scenic outdoor setting ideal for weddings, community gatherings, and celebrations

Special Events Permits & Information
Special event permits are required for any organized event involving the use of, or having an impact on public property, public facilities, parks, sidewalks, or public roadways in a manner that varies from its current land use.
The Special Event Department’s goal is to assist event organizers in planning safe and successful events that create minimal impacts on the communities surrounding the events.
