2020 Thanksgiving DUI Enforcement Campaign

The Hartsville Police Department will be participating in the 2020 Thanksgiving Holiday Campaign administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The campaign will run from November 25th – 29th and will focus on the aggressive enforcement of impaired drivers.  According to NHTSA, from 2013 to 2017, more than 800 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes during the Thanksgiving holiday period, making it one of the deadliest holidays on our roadways.

Sober or Slammer Campaign Efforts and Results

The Hartsville Police Department participated in the Sober or Slammer Campaign from 08/21/2020 to 09/07/2020.  During this campaign, officers increased enforcement efforts including aggressive patrols for impaired drivers.  Please help us keep the roads safe by not drinking and driving or getting a designated driver to take you home.  If you see an impaired driver, please call 911 or *HP immediately. Mask Up Darlington County Initiative Begins

 

Partners within Darlington County have teamed up to present a Mask Up Darlington County initiative to encourage residents and visitors to mask up to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Darlington County, Darlington County School District, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, and the City of Hartsville have all joined this initiative that kicks off on Monday, September 14th.

City of Hartsville Mask Distribution Event

The City of Hartsville will be hosting a face mask distribution event outside of The Medical Group, 1304 W. Bobo Newsome Highway, on Friday, August 28th from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. (or while supplies last). This will be a drive-thru event and two masks will be given per person or five per family. Traffic should enter on Medical Park Drive and follow the signs and officers directing to the event.

City Council Passes Ordinance Requiring Face Masks and Hosts Final Mask Distribution

At a regular meeting held on August 11, 2020, City of Hartsville City Council passed an ordinance to require the use of face coverings in public areas of Hartsville beginning August 12, 2020 at 12 p.m. City Council made this determination based on the recommendations of public health experts and the Governor’s officer in response to the health threat associated with COVID-19.

Hartsville Face Mask Distribution Begins

The City of Hartsville will begin distributing reusable cloth face masks to citizens at several locations throughout the city, while supplies last. The masks come from generous donations from Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, The Byerly Foundation, and the Sonoco Foundation.

Citizens will be provided two face masks per person or five per family. Masks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at designated dates and times for city residents. The schedule of mask distribution is as follows:

Hartsville Police Department Flag Dedication Ceremony

 

The Hartsville Police Department’s Investigation Division hosted a flag and flagpole dedication ceremony on June 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. City staff and special guests attended the ceremony which was followed by an open house and tour of the newly renovated Investigation Division located at 626 North Fifth Street, Hartsville.
