Hartsville Museum opens newest addition: The Edition

Hartsville, SC – The Hartsville Museum is excited to announce the opening of its new addition, The Edition, Downtown Hartsville’s premier event space, and invites the public to come see the new facility at the ribbon cutting on June 12, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. The Edition is located at 221 North Fifth Street across from the Hartsville Museum.

The Edition occupies a building with a rich history and is named in honor of its most famous occupant.

The completion of the building that is now occupied by “The Edition” is the final part of the Hartsville Museum Foundation’s and Hartsville Museum Commission’s vision to provide both a facility to support the space/storage needs of the Museum and support the City’s efforts to redevelop the downtown area. The Edition, which is located in space originally occupied by The Hartsville Messenger, provides upscale meeting space for the local community, and honors the Joseph Wiggins family’s contribution that was very important to the Museum when it was originally created.

The Museum Commission and Hartsville Museum Foundation are very excited “The Edition” is complete and look forward to its serving Hartsville for many years to come.

John Nichols, Hartsville Museum Foundation

The Edition, realized using both public and private funding, is designed to serve both The Hartsville Museum and the Hartsville community at large.

The Edition will add so much to the community—it provides another gathering space downtown ideal for both public and private functions, and it’s the perfect complement to the space at Lawton Park. From a Commission perspective, it was also important to us to build a financially sustainable future for the Museum by providing a revenue-earning capacity that ensures responsible management for years to come. We’re proud of how well it turned out and what we believe it will contribute to the City.

Hilary Culbertson, Hartsville Museum Commission

The Edition is now accepting bookings for receptions, meetings, parties, showers, and other events. The space, which holds up to 200 people, includes a separate conference room, audio/video system and Wi-Fi service upon request, special acoustic insulation, and other amenities. There is a covered portico in the front of the building and terrace patio in the rear. The Edition also offers a kitchen with refrigerator, warming oven, and dishwasher. Parking is available in the public lot behind the building or along North Fifth Street in the front.
