Screen on the Green, the City of Hartsville’s free series of summertime movies, will present “The Jungle Book,” sponsored by Darlington Raceway, on Sat., June 10. The screening will take place in Burry Park, 131 Cargill Way.

A live-action remake of the Disney classic, “The Jungle Book” portrays the journey of Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves who must leave home to escape a fierce tiger by the name of Shere Khan. During his travels through the jungles of India, Mowgli is guided by a ragtag group of animals, including Bagheera, a pragmatic panther, and Baloo, a fun-loving bear. The movie is rated PG for some scenes containing action and peril.

The showing begins at dusk, 9:02 p.m. or later. Viewers are welcome to bring chairs and blankets if desired. If we should experience rain, the showing will relocate to the Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center at Byerly Park, located at 701 W. Washington St. in Hartsville.

“Being a good community partner is important to all of us at Darlington Raceway,” said Darlington Raceway President, Kerry Tharp, “We are more than happy to partner with the City of Hartsville for their Screen on the Green event on June 10 and encourage the local community to come out and participate.”
