Cemetery Committee Compiles List of Potential Burials in Historic Marion Avenue Cemetery

Many thanks to volunteer preservationist Renee Bryant and all those who have contributed to compiling a list of identified and suspected burials in the Historic Marion Avenue Cemetery which include veterans, family members of current residents, and community icons. For those interested in volunteer preservation efforts, a preservation workshop has been scheduled for September 23rd. To RSVP, contact Mary Catherine Farrell at 843.383.3015 or mary.farrell@hartsvillesc.gov by September 14. Tax deductible donations are also being collected by the City for the preservation of the cemetery. Checks can be made payable to the City of Hartsville, memo: Marion Avenue Cemetery. Donations can be dropped of at City Hall or mailed to PO Drawer 2497, Hartsville, SC 29551.
