The City of Hartsville will observe South Carolina Arbor Day on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Lawton Park Playground located at 716 Prestwood Drive. Arbor Day is celebrated in the state of South Carolina on the first Friday in the month of December to mark the beginning of the state’s planting season. City of Hartsville representatives will be planting a Forest Pansy Eastern Redbud Tree.
The City of Hartsville was recognized at a July City Council meeting by the National Arbor Day Foundation for being a Tree City USA recipient for 33 years. This annual Arbor Day Celebration is one of the factors that qualifies cities to receive this award given to communities that demonstrate an advanced level of tree care.
