Members of City Council and City staff observed the City of Hartsville’s Arbor Day on December 13, 2016 with the planting of a new Chinese Elm tree at Byerly Park’s TB Thomas Sports Center.

Mayor Pro Tem, Johnny Andrews joined by City of Hartsville staff and Council members thanked the Public Service Department in developing and maintaining Hartsville trees. Councilman Andrews presented the proclamation to Stephen Wild, City Arborist, naming December 13, 2016 as Arbor Day in the City of Hartsville.

The annual Arbor Day observance serves as one of the factors which has allowed the City of Hartsville to be named a Tree City USA for the last 30 years by the National Arbor Day Foundation, recognizing the City’s efforts at investing in urban forestry.
