Agencies in and around Darlington County are now preparing for the huge influx of tourists which will visit the area next week, Aug. 5-9, for the National Bikers Roundup event at the Darlington Dragway. After already making the decision to stage the unsolicited event here, the event’s organizers first contacted Darlington County Tourism last year to let its staff know they were coming.

Since that time, numerous law enforcement agencies have been working closely with the event organizers to prepare for the unusually large number of tourists expected, and the Hartsville Police Department will be working diligently alongside the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office throughout the event handling traffic concerns. More than 20,000 tourists are expected, filling many hotels in Hartsville and a wide surrounding area. As with any event of this size, it will be a great economic benefit to Hartsville, and we will work hard to make sure this is a safe and welcoming event for tourists as well as our residents.
