The City of Hartsville has begun the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan. The City invites residents, business owners and other interested individuals to attend the Public Kickoff Meeting to learn about the process and the plan.

Updating the Comprehensive Plan is a community-driven process producing a document that will guide future policies, projects, and actions for various aspects of the city, which include but are not limited to neighborhoods and housing, recreation, infrastructure, economic development, Main Street/Downtown and zoning. The planning process involves community outreach, data collection and analysis of the existing condition of the city, determination of a citywide vision, goals and strategies to attain them, and regular meetings and discussions with the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.

The Public Kickoff Meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 from 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at Coker College at Davidson Hall. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to be a part of the planning process from the beginning to shape the future of the City of Hartsville. There will be other opportunities for public outreach and opportunities to express your thoughts as the plan moves forward. The estimated plan process is approximately one year from beginning to adoption of the plan.
