Yard debris pickup suspended

City of Hartsville Environmental Services has temporarily suspended yard debris pickup because current landfill conditions are not allowing debris to be carried in. Yard debris collection will resume as soon as conditions make it possible.

UPDATE: Yard debris collection is planned to resume tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Heavy rains, possible road hazards expected in Hartsville Oct. 2-4

City of Hartsville crews and emergency services are preparing for heavy rains, forecasted to amount to 12 inches or more, throughout the weekend of Oct. 2 – 4, and may close off some streets as needed in the case of temporary flooding.

Motorists and pedestrians should use caution and remain patient if encountering flooded or closed-off areas. Avoid driving through areas containing standing water and seek alternate routes when encountering barricades, which will be removed as storm water is able […]

Hartsville Police Department to host informal “Coffee with a Cop” meeting Oct. 19

Officers of the Hartsville Police Department will sit down for community discussions and coffee with local residents in an informal, neutral space Monday, Oct. 19 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Shoney’s Restaurant, 905 S. Fifth St. in Hartsville.

Hartsville Area Recreation seeking volunteers for football, basketball programs

The Hartsville Area Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to serve as officials for football and basketball games, as well as to serve on chain crews for football games.

The volunteers will work at the Byerly Park Recreation Complex, 700 Russell Road, Mondays and Tuesdays, generally 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Football will take place through the end of October, and basketball will run from January to early March 2016.
