Firefighter

Performs fire suppression activities on an assigned shift, ensuring proper and prompt response to fire and hazard materials incidents in order to protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance. Maintains records and prepares reports as required. Performs medical assistance at the First Responder EMT level as certified.

Req: 18 yrs old; HS Diploma or equivalent; reside within a 20 minute response time and remain on 24 hr emergency call status; prior fire service experience and knowledge of city layout preferred, IFSAC Firefighter I, certified in CPR and First Aid, SC Class E driver’s license.

Community Liaison Police Officer

Serve as liaison between City of Hartsville Police Department and community stakeholders; support and expand network of local Crime Watch organizations and neighborhood associations. Develop, implement and oversee new initiatives as outlined in the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing Report. Strong leadership skills with successful mgmt. /planning exp. in community‐based settings with diverse groups including law enforcement.Performs police activities.

Req: 21 yrs old; valid SC driver’s license; Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, social science, public relations, or related field preferred; 2 yrs of exp. in law enforcement, public relations, or social work preferred; completion of the SC Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy and Field Training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

School Crossing Guard

Responsible for the safety of students crossing the street en route to and from school and traffic control at school crossings for 2 hrs. per day, 5 days a week when school is in session.
