Director of Public Services

Performs a variety of complex professional work in planning, directing, organizing, coordinating and supervising the construction and maintenance projects and programs of the City’s Environmental Services and Public Works divisions; including the surveying, designing and inspection of projects and programs.

Req: Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, structural or related engineering, public administration, or in a closely related field; and (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in construction, architecture, civil engineering, varied public services operations, including storm water maintenance & construction; valid SC Driver’s License.

Chief Building Official

Manages, organizes, plans and coordinates business development, including, but not limited to, plan reviews, building inspections, enforcement, permit processing and administrative functions and ordinance administration; provides highly responsible professional technical expertise, guidance and support to ensure compliance with standards to safeguard public safety and property related construction, design, quality of material, use, occupancy, location and maintenance of structures.

Req: ICC Certified Building Official required; Associate degree in building technology, construction management, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building construction, architectural science or closely related field preferred; five (5) years of experience in building construction, code enforcement and inspections; valid SC Driver’s License.

Director of Finance

Performs a variety of complex supervisory, professional, administrative and technical accounting and finance functions in maintaining the fiscal records and systems of the City. Supervises the finance, court, and information technology areas, as well as purchasing procedures, grants, museum operations, and other areas as assigned for all City departments.

Req: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, information technology, or a closely related field; 5 years of progressively responsible municipal finance work/accounting; bondable; valid SC Driver’s License.

School Crossing Guard

Responsible for the safety of students crossing the street en route to and from school and traffic control at school crossings for 2 hrs. per day, 5 days a week when school is in session. Volunteer Firefighter

Perform firefighting/rescue duties. Min. Req: 18 yrs old, valid SC driver’s license, high school graduate or equivalent, reside within a 20 min. response time and remain on 24 hr emergency call status. Attend 2 three-hour evening training meetings a month, must attend 75% of the meetings and 50% of all full alarm responses per year. Prior fire service exp. and knowledge of city layout preferred.
