Notes and Instructions

Use this form to apply for Accommodations Tax Grants. Grants are provided to public and private nonprofit organizations to support projects that promote tourism, the arts and cultural events; facilities and services for civic and cultural activities, or support for tourist-related services.

Awards for Accommodations Tax Grants are in June each year.

Please note that all required information and attachments must be provided for the application to be submitted. The following documents are required with your application; an area to attach them is provided at the bottom of this form. The required documents are:

  1. One or more Program Information documents that describe the project and its activities, strategy, goals, objectives, and budget details.
  2. A letter from the IRS affirming the current status of the sponsoring organization as a 501(c)(3) or 501(d) charitable organization.
  3. A Registration Statement from the Secretary of State confirmation the current registration status as a charity organization in South Carolina.

Previous Funding Requirements

A detailed report outlining the previous Grant rewards must be turned in to the Finance Department at City Hall by May 1st explaining how the money was spent, completion of the project, attendance, financial report, etc.

If this requirement is not completed or not turned in by the due date, the City of Hartsville has the right to audit the Grantee's books or at the Grantor's expense to appoint an independent certified public accountant to conduct such an audit, should questions concerning the eligibility of the Grantee's use of the funds awarded by City Council.
