In our community we are fortunate to have a group of small business owners that have decided to invest in Hartsville’s downtown and community. Leaf Vacuum Truck Arriving Mid-to-Late June

Under a current City Ordinance, we are pleased to announce the City’s purchase of a new leaf vacuum truck for the collection of leaves, pine needles, and other yard debris. This new truck will help keep our City’s homes’ appearances neat and beautiful!

For use of this service, residents should:

Place the pile of leaves and pine needles at the front of your property line only!
Separate leaves and pine needles from other yard debris (limbs, shrubbery, garbage, litter, etc.

Hazard Mitigation Survey

The City of Hartsville is designing its Hazard Mitigation Plan in an effort to make the City less vulnerable to natural disasters.. Having this plan will help to determine flood insurance rates and is essential to applying for recover funds should South Carolina declare a state disaster.

Hartsville Honors Fallen Officer

National Police Week is designated for the week of May 15th and serves as an appreciation and recognition week for all law enforcement officers. Specifically May 15th is designated nationally as Peace Officer Memorial Day. As such, Mayor Mel Pennington has signed a Proclamation decreeing May 15th as Peace Officer Memorial Day for the City of Hartsville. In remembrance of this day, the City of Hartsville honors our fallen officer Ulysses “Buck” Dobson, Sr.

Screen on the Green Returns for the 2016 season with The Good Dinosaur Sponsored by Sheriff Wayne Byrd

The City of Hartsville’s Screen on the Green free movie series will begin it’s 2016 season on Saturday, May 14 with a showing of the 2015 version of “The Good Dinosaur”, sponsored by Sheriff Wayne Byrd.   The movie showing will take place in Burry Park, 131 Cargill Way, at dusk, 8:15 p.m. or later.

Free Paper Shred and E-Waste Recycling Day at the Hartsville Farmers Market

The Hartsville Farmers Market, May 14, will also feature the free Paper Shred and E-Waste Recycling, sponsored by SPC Credit Union from 10 am to 1 pm behind the YMCA. Bring your paper documents for free shredding as well computers, cell phones and electronic devices with a cord for recycling. Large appliances, devices with Freon (refrigerators, air conditioners) will not be accepted.

Hammer Time Road Construction Party

In celebration of further street improvements to downtown Hartsville, Hammer Time Party, a construction-themed party, will take place in the East College Ave. Parking Lots on Friday May 13th at 5 pm.
