The City of Hartsville and Main Street Hartsville invite everyone to get in the holiday spirit with Downtown Holiday Open House and the Mayor’s Tree Lighting on November 17th from 6 to 9pm. Join us as we begin the holiday season with cookies and milk at City Hall. While at City hall, grab a picture with Santa Claus in Council Chambers. At 6:30 pm, light up our city with the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting in Centennial Park featuring performances from local dance studios and chorus groups. There will be hot chocolate served at the tree lighting. Bring your Christmas Wish list to mail off at Santa’s mailbox located next to the Christmas tree. Enjoy some flurries with the large snow field with a free snow tubing slide in the E College Avenue parking lot behind Mantissa Alley. The Carillon Carolers will be bringing joyful tunes to the crowd from 6-8pm. Purchase gifts for everyone on your holiday list with Downtown Holiday Open House on this night as Downtown Hartsville business will extend shopping hours for the holiday festivities.

Additionally, free horse-drawn wagon rides will be offered on the night of this event beginning at City Hall. Carriage rides will also be offered from December 1st through December 23rd on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On these dates, pick up will be on East College Avenue. Tickets will be $5 per person for wagon rides, and $10 per person for carriage rides. Special couple pricing for the carriage rides are $20 per couple or $30 per couple for a private ride. There will also be extended shopping hours for participating downtown stores on Thursdays and Fridays during these dates.

Parking for these events can be found at all public parking lots, except the E College Avenue parking lot behind Mantissa Alley on November 17th. This lot will be blocked off for the snow field on that date.

This new-combined event will be the largest community attraction of the season. Downtown Hartsville will be bustling with holiday activities for everyone.
