On Saturday, Feb. 18, the City of Hartsville will celebrate the commencement of the second class of the Business Builder Certification program at the Butler Community Center, located at 1103 S. Sixth St. in Hartsville beginning at 10 a.m. A light reception will immediately follow the ceremony from 12 to 12:30 p.m. The six graduates of the Business Builder Certification Class of 2017 will present their business ideas and themselves to the public as a part of the ceremony and graduation requirements.

The Business Builder Certification Program, funded by the Byerly Foundation, features the Business Builder Certification class, which teaches business basics, as well as the Business Builder Opportunity Loan Fund. The fifteen-week course featured topics such as marketing, leadership, general management, and public speaking and featured guest speakers from local businesses and local business support organizations. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to apply for a low-interest loan of up to $10,000.
