Members of Hartsville City Council and City staff observed the City of Hartsville’s Arbor Day on Dec. 19, 2017 with the planting of a new Overcup Oak tree at Byerly Park.

Members of Hartsville City Council thanked the Public Service and Parks and Recreation department for their efforts of developing and maintaining Hartsville’s trees. City Arborist, Stephen Wild, presented information on Hartsville’s tree population as well as South Carolina’s Arbor Day to those in attendance.

The annual Arbor Day observance serves as one of the factors which has allowed the City of Hartsville to be named a Tree City USA for the last 31 years by the National Arbor Day Foundation, recognizing the City’s efforts at investing in urban forestry.
