Sponsored by the Duke Energy Foundation and the City of Hartsville, the Hartsville Children’s Theatre with Thornwell School for the Arts students will be performing “A Thousand Cranes” to the public for free on Thursday, Novemeber 3rd at 6:30 pm. “A Thousand Cranes” is based on the story of Sadako, a young girl who dies of radiation sickness after Hiroshima. This mystical re-telling of how folding a thousand paper cranes will make a sick person well, is a joy for performers and audiences alike.  A special performance will be made for Hartsville area students in grades 4-8 on Friday, November 4th at 9:30am. Leading up to the performances, Columbia Children’s Theatre will host a week long artist residency at Thornwell School for the Arts that will focus on the fundamentals of creative expression that will translate into the on-stage production at the end of the residency.
