The EMPOWER initiative (Employing Ministry and Police to Overcome Walls and End Racism) will continue efforts to improve the community this weekend. Founded in the fall of 2016, this partnership between the Ministerial Alliance, the Community Outreach Division of the Hartsville Police Department, and the City of Hartsville, works to make positive impacts in the area.

After a successful Community Work-Day this past month, volunteers will meet again, 9 a.m., Saturday, March 25 at 320 Bell Ave., for landscaping and minor exterior repairs. This will be the third Community Work-Day since the EMPOWER initiative launched in October of last year. Pastor Christopher Morgan, head of the Ministerial Alliance, will be coordinating clergy and congregation members.

“The EMPOWER initiative allows us to mend any broken fences by building strong relationships between Police and the Community to make a stronger community that we can all live and work in peacefully,” says Lt. Tenyonde Richardson, Community Outreach.
