Hartsville, SC: Starting September 11, 2023, the City of Hartsville Fire Department will begin testing fire hydrants in the city limits of Hartsville.

The City of Hartsville Fire Department is asking for cooperation in cutting the vegetation 3’ away from the fire hydrants located on personal property within the city limits.  Primarily, this will aid the Fire Department in locating a fire hydrant quickly in an emergency.  Also, it will allow the testing process to be completed in a timely fashion.  If you have any questions or concerns about a hydrant on your property, please contact Fire Chief, Jeff Burr, at 843-383-3000.

During the testing process some customers may experience rust-colored water.  If this occurs, discontinue using inside water, and run water from an outside source until the water runs clear. If you have any questions or concerns about water quality, please contact the City of Hartsville Public Works Department at 843-383-3006.

The program is expected to be completed by December 31, 2023.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
